New Patients

Welcome New Patients!

Chastain Dental, Dr. Donald Rozema, serving Atlanta, Buckhead, Sandy Springs areaOn behalf of our entire dental team, we would like to welcome you to our office. We’re sure that you’ll find the atmosphere friendly, the office comfortable and our service exceptional.

Our commitment is to provide you with dental care that will enhance the quality of your life. We are proud to offer you and your family complete dental care in one location conveniently located in Buckhead. We provide diagnostic, preventative, restorative and reconstructive dental services.

Your First Visit – a Painless Conversation

We have found that no two patients are alike – everyone has different goals and desires. Some people just want to chew comfortably again while others want to look younger and have a more attractive smile. Some people dread going to the dentist while others actually like it!

Our goal is to make sure you get what you want. That is why your first visit is usually just a conversation with Dr. Rozema.

We need to know where you’ve been, where you are now, where you want to go, and when you want to get there. You need to know if we are the right place for you. If everyone is happy (which is usually the case), then we move forward with a plan that is best for you.

New Patient Exam

The goal of the New Patient Exam is to uncover the current state of your dental health. This is not about scolding or lecturing – it is about finding our starting point together.

The appointment will include a comprehensive exam to evaluate the health of your teeth, gums, jaw muscles, and joints. In addition, we will take x-rays, diagnostic photographs, and we may create diagnostic models. With current, accurate records, Dr. Rozema can design a customized treatment plan for you based specifically on your goals and objectives.

Review of Findings (ROF)

One to two weeks after your examination, you will return for a no-cost Review of Findings consultation with Dr. Rozema. Dr. Rozema will review the photographs of your teeth, your x-rays and the findings from your examination with you.

Based on your goals and level of dental fitness, Dr. Rozema will work with you to develop a step-by-step solution that will allow you to get you to your goals. His staff will review the cost of treatment – all in advance.

After our years of practicing dentistry, the dentistry is not the challenge – it’s making sure we are on the same page and we get you what you want! And we will!

Our Philosophy and Core Values of Our Dental Practice

We believe in treating one dental patient at a time so we may optimally serve you. This allows us to give you our full attention.

We pride ourselves on delivering dental care centered on the following core values:

We maintain a high level of care based on emerging research and modify our practices when theories change. Once you become an ongoing patient, you will notice this.

We are accountable for our actions and take responsibility for the care we provide to you. We will provide you with the information you require to make the best decision for your health. We also expect you to take responsibility in caring for the treatment we provide you. We pride ourselves on staying time and expect the same from our patients.

We work together to deliver the best care possible by maximizing all team members’ best qualities. We also involve a team of dental specialists and other health practitioners to provide you with holistic treatment. By doing so, we can optimize your care and your health.

We will disclose the results of our assessments and the costs associated with treatment for your condition. We will tell you what risks are associated with waiting on or not completing the recommended treatment.

We have your best interests in mind at all times. We base treatment plans on your needs, not on your insurance policy.

We do our best to understand your situation. If you tell us where you are coming from, we can better work with you to get your mouth to health. You are our priority, so help us do our best to brighten your smile.

Financial Policy/Dental Insurance

Our office is a fee-for-service practice; therefore, payment is normally due at the time services are provided unless other arrangements have been made in advance.

We require your complete payment the day service is rendered. This can be accomplished through cash, credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express) and debit card. Should you require a service that involves an out-of-clinic lab, the dental fee is to be paid the day of impressions, and the lab fee is to be paid the day of insertion. We have financing options available as well.

If you have insurance, we will submit to your insurance electronically at the time of service, and your insurance company will reimburse you directly.

We are happy to assist you in understanding your insurance benefits, and we will assist you in processing your claims, predetermining your treatment, and third-party inquiries. We are here to help and give you the smile you deserve!

As a Pankey Institute-trained dentist, Dr. Rozema understands your desire for the best dental services that are appropriate to your circumstances and objectives. As you enter our practice as a new patient, it is important that we understand your goals concerning your dental health so we can help you achieve them.

The comprehensive oral health evaluation is the process by which we develop an understanding of your needs and desires concerning your dental health. While the entire comprehensive evaluation may take place over multiple visits, if you have an urgent need or immediate concern, we will address that first before leading you through the entire evaluation.

Beginning Conversation

We begin the process by discussing your dental history and learning about your past experiences with dentistry. We gain valuable insight as you share with us how you see your present level of health and your hopes, goals and expectations of our office. This assists us in helping you achieve your desired results.

Co-discovery Examination

This is accomplished with your help and input. In order to reach a complete understanding of your present state of health, we gather data about your chewing muscles, your jaw joints (TMJs), and bite (occlusion) and how all three components work together. Evaluating the health of the gums (periodontium) and surrounding soft tissues is part of the process. We will look for signs of disease, oral cancer and injury during this part of the exam. A complete assessment of the health of each individual tooth, as well as the condition of any restorations (fillings, crowns, bonding, dentures) is an integral part of the process.

An aesthetic evaluation may be included. If you have expressed concern about the way your teeth look, you will have the opportunity to “tour” your mouth, discussing each point of concern. Throughout your exam, we will be asking what you are feeling, wondering, and thinking. You, after all, know better than anyone what you feel in your own mouth. Along with the process of examining your mouth with you, we will recommend appropriate x-rays. These may include films of your teeth and entire jaw system. Diagnostic impressions of your upper and lower teeth will be made. The resulting models of your mouth will be mounted on an articulator, an instrument that simulates the movements of your jaw.

Following your co-discovery examination, you will be invited to schedule a subsequent appointment to discuss the findings and how to best proceed with treatment that meets your goals and objectives. Before sitting down to review the possibilities with you, we will take time to study all of the gathered information and formulate a plan that addresses your concerns and goals.
